Book descriptionMake music theory fun for your little one! Music Theory for Young Children · Book 1 is a 30-page colouring and tracing workbook for children aged 4 to 6. Ms Lai designed it from her years of teaching young children piano and music.
There are no stickers to lose. Each page uses colour pencils or crayons, so children learn by colouring, tracing, circling and drawing.
Inside, children learn:
The music alphabet and the names of the piano keys
Treble clef and bass clef, with big clefs to trace
Right hand, left hand and finger numbers
Note values: semibreve, minim, dotted minim and crotchet
Lines and spaces on the staff
Treble and bass clef notes around Middle C
A “Let’s Check!” assessment and a certificate of achievement
The book suits first piano lessons, homeschool music, preschool classes and practice at home before a child starts graded exams like ABRSM or Trinity.
Written by Ms Lai (Evelyn Lai): LTCL Piano Performance (Trinity College London), Diploma in Music (LASALLE), ABRSM Grade 8 Piano, Violin and Theory. She has taught children music since 2012.
